In celebration of the carrot

The local veg shop’s stalls on Causeway Head were astonishing this morning – laden with autumnal fruit and carrots – orange, yellow and purple, which I chose. The tops were donated back to the shop for one of the check out women who feeds them to her guinea pigs I think. I saved these extraordinary individuals and laid them out on the table for everyone to see. Toby transformed them into a still life. We consumed the rest for lunch in a salad with baked potatoes.

We spent some time discussing a composition for the triptych of canvases we will begin paining at the Farmer’s Market next week.
